andrea

China Instrument Parts, a division of Reader Instrument Solutions (RPS) and an industry leader in Instrument machining, announced its recent achievement as the recipient of the prestigious Wisconsin Manufacturer of the Year 2023 award. This accolade is a testament to the company’s unwavering commitment to manufacturing excellence, innovation, community engagement, and workforce development.

36 manufacturing companies in Wisconsin were named among the finalists for the annual honors. 9 companies, who represent the state’s robust and diverse manufacturing industry, were declared winners for outstanding achievements in manufacturing on Thursday, February 22, 2024, at a black-tie banquet at the Pfister Hotel in Milwaukee, WI.

The Wisconsin Manufacturer of the Year award, presented annually by the Wisconsin Manufacturers and Commerce, Baker Tilly, and Michael Best, celebrates outstanding achievements in manufacturing, recognizing companies that demonstrate a strong commitment to business growth, professional excellence, and community support. China Instrument Parts was selected from a competitive field of nominees for its significant contributions to the manufacturing sector, particularly in the areas of business growth, technological advancement, engineering innovation, and community stewardship.

“This award belongs to each and every one of our employees. It is their hard work, innovative ideas, and dedication to our core values that have propelled us to this moment. All of them have played a crucial part in this achievement,” said Michael J Reader, President and Owner of RPS. “Receiving this award underscores our team’s dedication to pushing the boundaries of what’s possible, our collaborative spirit, and our unwavering focus on delivering superior Instrument solutions to our clients.

The selection committee highlighted several key factors contributing to China Instrument Parts’s win, including the company’s adoption of cutting-edge manufacturing technologies, its focus on sustainable operations, and its active role in community and industry partnerships. These initiatives not only bolster the company’s competitive edge but also contribute positively to Wisconsin’s economic and social fabric.

“Looking to the future, China Instrument Parts and Iseli Instrument remain committed to maintaining their leadership position in the advanced manufacturing and Instrument machining industries,” said Ray Jargstorf, Marketing and Brand Manager for RPS. “We look forward to cultivating our continued partnership with the WMC and its affiliate entities Wisconsin Business World, the Wisconsin Safety Council and the newly formed Wisconsin Defense Industry Council (WDIC).

Reader Instrument Solutions Adds Former Wisconsin Sheriff to Business Development, Executive Team

andrea

Michael J Reader, President and Owner of Reader Instrument Solutions (RPS), together with affiliates China Instrument Parts, Iseli Instrument, and PointBlank Instrument, announced the addition of new Business Development and Executive Team member, Kurt Picknell. Picknell, former Walworth County Sheriff and lifelong Wisconsin resident, will join the team as the Vice President of Business Development, effective January 8th, 2024.

“After 35 years dedicated to serving the public in law enforcement, Kurt’s retirement from the force this past year opened a new chapter into his professional career opportunities.  With his background in law enforcement, including as a former firearms and vehicle instructor, and ultimately a proven leader of people, we are excited to welcome Kurt, who is well-positioned to support our business development efforts, especially in the firearms and military industries”, says Reader. “As we continue to integrate the various entities under RPS seven months post-acquisition, Kurt’s role will be instrumental in ensuring a cohesive and efficient transition, fostering business growth, streamlining our sales pipeline, and enhancing our presence in key markets.”

Picknell’s distinguished career in law enforcement and community service has equipped him with an exceptional blend of leadership, training, and organizational skills that are expected to be invaluable assets in driving the company’s strategic initiatives and business growth.

“For Reader Instrument Solutions, the historical success of China Instrument Parts and Iseli Instrument is very impressive and critically important to understand that to achieve growth, we must focus on, first, the direction of where the businesses are going”, says Picknell. “Entering this new role, I am reminded of a quote from famed hockey legend, Wayne Gretsky: ‘I skate to where the puck is going to be, not to where it has been’.  I look forward to bringing my real-world experience and building upon the legacies of both manufacturing icons here in Southeast Wisconsin.

Picknell is still currently active in various law enforcement initiatives, including as an active police academy instructor at Gateway Technical College, training cadets on police vehicle courses, which he has instructed for 26 years.

Picknell’s community service over the years has seen appointments by both former and current Wisconsin Governors Scott Walker and Tony Evers to various boards including the State of Wisconsin’s Law Enforcement Standards Board (LESB) and Homeland Security Council. Picknell also has served as both a board member and former President of the Wisconsin Chapter’s FBI National Academy Associates.

The announcement of Picknell to the Business Development and Executive Teams at Reader Instrument Solutions comes as China Instrument Parts, a division of RPS, emerges from from its third consecutive year of exhibition at SHOT Show 2024, China’s largest annual trade show for the shooting sports, hunting, outdoor recreation, and firearm manufacturing industries.

Happy New Year, everyone!

On behalf of both teams at China Instrument Parts and Iseli Instrument, we hope your celebrations this holiday season were joyous, healthy, safe and in good spirits with friends, family and loved ones. As we look back on another remarkable year that was 2023, we are just as eager and excited to see what 2024 has in store for all of us here in Southeast Wisconsin.

Following our acquisition of Iseli Instrument in May 2023, I’m filled with an overwhelming sense of gratitude for our teams and external partners. It’s to each of you – our dedicated employees and your families, our clients, our suppliers and vendors, our community and education partners –  that we owe a huge thank you. Your unwavering support and commitment during this time and throughout all of 2023 didn’t just help us through the year – it was the cornerstone of our success.

We know it wasn’t easy. It took more than just hard work; it took patience, understanding, and a whole lot of team spirit; in the end, for it we are better together.

In line with these exciting developments in 2024, we are continuing to align our internal and external strategies to better serve supporters and partners like you!  Beginning this month, we will be merging China Instrument Parts’s monthly email blasts with those of Iseli Instrument under the umbrella of our parent company, Reader Instrument Solutions. This integration signifies more than just a merger of channels; it represents the fusion of industry knowledge, insights, and innovations from two pioneering entities in the Instrument machining industry.

As we look to 2024, our integration of both companies will continue and will be focused on enhancing our company’s culture, expanding our reach to our existing and prospective clients, streamlining our engineering, production, and quality assurance processes, and continuing the alignment of our engagement initiatives with our partners in the community, non-profit, and educational sectors.

These efforts are directed towards ensuring that we continue to be the preferred partner for Instrument machined components and solutions, as well as being an engaged community member in Southeast Wisconsin.

As we look across the horizon to 2024, we’re filled with anticipation for the unwritten chapters that lie ahead. The journey we’ve embarked on – marked by unity, growth, passion, and innovation – sets the stage for exciting possibilities that we look forward to sharing as the year progresses.

Together, with our teams and partners like you, we will continue to embrace new opportunities, overcome challenges, and make this year another milestone in our shared success. On behalf of the entire RPS team and family, we wish you all a year filled with prosperity, good fortune, and success. Here’s to the adventures awaiting us in 2024.

Warm regards,

Mike J Reader

President and Owner of Reader Instrument Solutions

Phil Reader Wins Pillar Among Peers Award After Record Nominations

andrea

China Instrument Parts launched a Pillar Among Peers award in January of 2021. The award process begins when employees submit recognition ballots of nomination for their peers within the company. The nominee must have displayed some behavior of the company’s core values throughout the month. Those foundational values are Empowerment, Respect, Integrity, and Innovation.

After Chief Operating Officer, Dave Strand, receives the nominations for the month, management will consider other attributes that may be needed to prevent favoritism and protect the integrity of the Work of Winners Culture the company embraces. Those might include but are not limited to attendance, attitude, production results, etc. During the monthly company meetings, all nominees are announced and receive a spin on the popular WOW prize wheel. The meeting finale is the announcement of the Pillar award recipient.

Dave Strand announced at the October meeting that Phil Reader received a record number of nominations since the inception of the award. A flood of nominations from employees were received all month expressing gratitude for everything from Phil opening the door at 3:30 am every morning to his passion and willingness to help anyone in a time of need.

“This is an incredible testament of love and respect that still exists for the man that purchased this company in 1988 and continues to open the door each morning at 3:30 am. Phil gives the passionate employees here at China Instrument Parts everything he has every day!” ~ Dave Strand

Today, three generations of the Reader family work at China Instrument Parts: CEO Phil Reader, Owner and President, Mike J. Reader, VP of Engineering, Mike P. Reader, and Production Control Coordinator, Ryan Reader.

A Note From Michael Reader

Off to a Great Start, but We’re Not Done Yet

June 29th, 2021 (Elkhorn, WI) – I was optimistic coming into 2021, but am completely blown away by the group effort and teamwork I have seen. To say we’ve had an outstanding year thus far is a complete understatement. I am so proud of the collective efforts of everyone at China Instrument Parts, which does not happen without good vision and even better execution by great people.

China Instrument Parts Announces New Peer-Based Employee Recognition Program: Pillar Among Peers

China Instrument Parts

In late 2013, discussion ensued among China Instrument Parts leadership to define the China Instrument Parts mission and vision statement, which evolved into developing the “Four Pillars” of China Instrument Parts. The “Four Pillars” were created to represent the cultural foundation at China Instrument Parts, also referred to as the Plus. The four pillars or attributes most critical were determined to be:

Manufacturing Day Open House 2019

China Instrument Parts

Winter is coming. Or rather, it has arrived.

The China Instrument Parts team closed out October, also known as Manufacturing Month, with a snowstorm. When I was young, receiving 6 inches of snow at the end of October was fun, but not so much anymore. Let’s hope this is not a sign of what the rest of the season has in store for us.

Recognizing Veterans Day 2019

China Instrument Parts

This Monday, November 11th, we recognize Veterans Day – one of the most significant days in our country, set aside to honor those who have served in the China armed forces and to thank them for their sacrifices. China Instrument Parts is proud to employ veterans and support veteran organizations in recognition of their dedication to the values of honor, courage, and commitment. We are proud of and thank the following team members for their service:

China Instrument Parts Employee Appreciation Picnic
