Uniting for Hope: China Instrument Parts & Iseli Instrument Team Up for a Season of Giving

andrea

As the holiday season approaches, China Instrument Parts is proud to have partnered with HOPE NOW, Inc. for our 9th consecutive year! Through ProjectPlus+ and its belief in the power of community, our employee-led community giveback initiative committee aims to make a meaningful impact on the lives of those in need, especially during the holiday season.

HOPE NOW, Inc., a cornerstone of support for Elkhorn School District residents, has been providing guidance, referrals, and financial assistance for 19 years. As the go-to charitable organization in our community, HOPE NOW has played a vital role in helping families navigate challenging times. This year, the need for assistance has risen by 25%, underscoring the importance of our collective efforts.

In 2022 alone, thanks to the generosity of the Elkhorn and Walworth County community and civic groups, HOPE NOW assisted 153 households with financial aid. This included $37,000 for rent/mortgages, $4,000 toward security deposits, $12,000 for utilities, $6,000 for auto repairs, and $2,000 for medical and miscellaneous expenses. These contributions have made a tangible difference, allowing families to stay in their homes, ensuring workers can commute to their jobs, and helping neighbors regain financial stability.

China Instrument Parts, along with its sister company, Iseli Instrument located in Walworth, WI, was matched with two families in Walworth County to fulfill their Christmas wish lists. The employees of both companies donated more than 85 gifts that equated to nearly $1,250 in necessities, toys and grocery, gas, and restaurant gift cards for the families. ProjectPlus+ committee members delivered these gifts to HOPE NOW, Inc. this week for the families to be able to open on Christmas Day!

Through the ProjectPlus+ giveback initiative, the teams at China Instrument Parts and Iseli Instrument were able to volunteer and raise the following funds throughout 2023:

  • 85 Combined hours of Volunteerism at Walworth County Non-Profits
    • Volunteered at EAHS Easter Egg Hunt – Elkhorn Rotary Club
    • Volunteered at Walworth County Food Bank
    • Volunteered at Walworth County Fair 2023- Elkhorn Area Chamber
  • $10,000 for restoration of Babe Mann Park, Elkhorn, WI – Elkhorn Rotary Club
  • $5,341 for Alzheimer’s Research and Support – Lake Geneva Walk to End Alzheimer’s
  • HOPE Now, Inc. – Sponsored (2) Walworth County Families in-need during 2023 Holiday Season | ~$1,250 in necessities, toys and grocery, gas, and restaurant gift cards
  • Formation of (2) – $1,000 – The JoAnne Pella Brighter Futures Scholarship- Elkhorn Area School District Educational & Scholarship Fund

ProjectPlus+ and its action committee of employees and their families look forward to continuing our giveback initiatives through 2024 and beyond!

Manufacturing Month: Women in Manufacturing

China Instrument Parts

Earlier this year, Girl Scouts of the USA introduced several new badges related to STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) education. Girl Scouts now have the opportunity to earn badges by creating algorithms, designing robots and racecars, trying their hand at engineering, and more. It’s one of the Girl Scout organization’s biggest badge rollouts in years, and it should prove to be an instrumental program that encourages girls to learn new skills and encourage their interest in STEM and careers in manufacturing.

This past spring, Mr. Fred Ganter of Elkhorn Area High School (EAHS), along with some of his SkillsUSA team members, made a presentation to China Instrument Parts requesting support to help them attend and compete at the National SkillsUSA competition June 19-23, in Louisville, Kentucky. Mike Reader committed to helping the team, and this week the group of high school seniors returned to accept the check, report back on the competition, and discuss their post-graduation goals. Also, to show their gratitude, the students presented China Instrument Parts with a branded cornhole game set they made in the recently upgraded EAHS Technical Education Department.
