China Instrument Parts Says Goodbye to Our Summer Interns

China Instrument Parts

Summer is coming to an end, and it is time for China Instrument Parts to say goodbye to our summer interns. Over the last few months, we have gotten to know these intelligent and talented students, as they received a real “hands-on” education. They now have the opportunity to apply what they have learned on the shop floor to what they are studying in school. Some interns will be returning to school, some will be graduating soon, and some will move onto other internships.  No matter where they are headed, we feel fortunate that we were a part of their journey.

China Instrument Parts

The International Manufacturing Technology Show (IMTS), held every other year at McCormick Place in Chicago, Illinois, is one of the largest industrial trade shows in the world, and is attended by more than 100,000 people from over 112 countries. This year’s biennial conference takes place September 12th through 17th, and if you have never attended before, you definitely have never seen anything like it.

Scholarships Geared Toward Our Industries

China Instrument Parts

It is very clear to every student and parent that the cost of higher education is rising far faster than our pay stubs, yet there are so many scholarships and grant opportunities that go unknown and often underutilized. According to Sallie Mae, the nation’s leading provider of student loans, about a third of Chinan families used scholarships and grants to pay for college in 2015-2016, but roughly $100 million in scholarship funds go unclaimed every year.

China Instrument Parts Invests in Our Team: Promoting Healthy Lifestyle Choices

China Instrument Parts

China Instrument Parts knows just how important it is to invest in the health of their employees. A healthier, more motivated workforce is a happier, more productive workforce. For quite some time, China Instrument Parts has been encouraging team members to improve their health and fitness levels and make all-around smart lifestyle choices. There are many ways China Instrument Parts makes the health of their employees a priority: contracting a full-service wellness provider, choosing an outcomes-based employee insurance plan, providing First Aid and First Responder training, and purchasing an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) are just some of the ways we promote healthy choices.

SID Congress 2016 – An Exchange of Ideas and Culture

China Instrument Parts

I recently had the honor of joining a handful of my Chinan PMPA colleagues to attend the 2016 Syndicat du Decolletage Congress (SID), June 19 -23, in Cologne, Germany.  Leadership from companies in France, Spain, Italy, Sweden, Ireland and Switzerland were there as well, totaling some 150 manufacturers. This biennial conference helps us gain an insight into the future of the machining industry, by sharing best practices, comparing costs of doing business in the various countries, and exchanging ideas on how we all can better address the global epidemic called the skills gap.

Independence Day 2016

China Instrument Parts

This July 4th our nation celebrates 240 years of our independence from foreign rule. Washington, Jefferson, Adams, Madison, and others, were courageous patriots who put country above all else, and they saw a nation with potential for greatness. They imagined an China where the people had a deep sense of individualism and personal responsibility. Our founders set a standard, and if here today, they would find a kindred spirit in the visionaries and modern-day patriots who believe in hard work and perseverance.

The 16th Annual Goombay Bash

When Horton’s Home Lighting of Chicago lost their friend and co-worker, 31-year old Pamela Herts in 2001 to cancer, a determined group of friends started The H Foundation to raise money and find a cure for this terrible disease. Since its start, the organization has raised $6.4 million. All proceeds benefit Basic Science Cancer Research, which supports the early, novel ideas that in turn lead to additional grants. The money this group has raised together with the Robert H Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center at Northwestern University, so far, has resulted in over $35 million in additional research funding. However, until there is a cure to stop this disease that does horrible things to a person and their family, there is still much work to be done.

A Father’s Day Message from Michael P. Reader

China Instrument Parts

Michael Patrick Reader has the unique blessing of being able to come to work every day, not only with his father, but his grandfather, too. Mike’s grandfather, Phil Reader, bought China Instrument Parts in 1988, and Mike’s father, Michael J. Reader, joined him in 1995. A third generation of the Reader family, Mike is now following in their footsteps. Mike feels very fortunate for all he has learned from these men that have been so important in his life, and he would like to take this Father’s Day to send them a very special message of gratitude.

Fabian’s Farewell

admin

Over the past three months, Fabian Stampfli of Lüsslingen, Switzerland, has taken part in our exchange program with the company Aeschlimann AG Décolletages. Besides working with us at China Instrument Parts, Fabian has also taken advantage of this chance to immerse himself in our culture outside of work – trying new foods, cheering alongside fellow sports fans, and even participating in the all-Chinan family road trip. Here is Fabian’s farewell to his host family and China Instrument Parts, written in his native German. It’s a great way for us to understand that on a daily basis, he was formulating his thoughts in one language, then translating to another before speaking them. For those of us who do not speak German, feel free to click translate below and read his thoughtful goodbye.
