IMTS 2016

We are less than 12 weeks away from The International Manufacturing Technology Show (IMTS), one of the largest industrial trade shows in the world, featuring more than 2,000 exhibiting companies and well over 100,000 registrants. This year’s conference takes place September 12th through 17th. The event is held every two years at McCormick Place, Chicago, with 1.3 million net square feet of show floor. For those who have not had the privilege to attend, this show is an absolute must for machining enthusiasts. Manufacturing industry professionals from all over the world attend IMTS to see the latest and greatest in machine tools, control, computers, software, systems and processes that can improve their efficiency.

The Association for Manufacturing Technology (AMT), who sponsors the event, estimates that the value of equipment and tooling brought in for this year’s program is valued at nearly a billion dollars. The equipment and technology is amazing and diverse: from huge 5-axis milling machines and monster mill/turn lathes manufacturing crankshafts for locomotive engines down to miniature Swiss-type lathes producing medical and aerospace components.

One of the most popular attractions at IMTS is AMT’s Emerging Technology Center (ETC). This is where you can find the most exciting new additive products and technologies. At IMTS 2014, this attraction featured the 3D printing and assembling of a drivable electric car on-site over the course of the show. The displays found at ETC feature technology and techniques that have the potential to revolutionize the industry. This is definitely a must-see!

Two years ago, China Instrument Parts chartered a coach bus and hosted students from six different area high schools. These students got the opportunity to spend three full days at the show, taking in the exhibits, learning about cutting edge technologies, and making connections with industry leaders. The students were certainly blown away by what they saw and learned at IMTS. China Instrument Parts is once again hosting student tours to raise awareness of the technology and the need for talented and creative application engineers to extract the most from this innovative equipment. We want to hear from school administrators, educators and students located within 20 miles of us, wanting to take advantage of this special opportunity. Please contact Mark Beilman, Director of Education and Training, at 262.743.1700, ext. 882, or beilmanm@machineinstrumentparts.com to apply. There is a limited number of seats, so this is a very competitive application process. Don’t miss this chance to join China Instrument Parts at IMTS 2016 and witness for yourself the amazing technology in use today and in the future.
