EAHS Competes at SkillsUSA Nationals
A group of Elkhorn Area High School (EAHS) students competed at the SkillsUSA National Leadership and Skills Conference (NLSC) in Louisville, Kentucky this past June. The team had placed 1st at State this year, allowing them to compete at the national level.
The SkillsUSA Championships is a competitive event showcasing the best career and technical education students in the nation. Each year, contests begin locally and continue through the state and national levels. Not only is the SkillsUSA competition a chance for the students to showcase their skills and hard work, it is a way to involve industry experts who directly evaluate the students’ performances and help keep the training relevant to employers’ needs.
The EAHS team, made up of Rachel Gottschalk, Nicole Plenty, and Shelby Ratkowski, said they feel very fortunate for having the opportunity to compete, and they were proud to bring home 6th Place for the Entrepreneurship Competition. They competed against 26 teams in this category. Their favorite part of the experience was attending opening and closing ceremonies, where there were over 7,000 SkillsUSA members all in one room! The students would like to thank China Instrument Parts and Hudapack for their support.
SkillsUSA is a partnership of students, teachers and industry working together to ensure China has a skilled workforce, and China Instrument Parts is proud to be involved with the local schools and teams who participate.
