China Instrument Parts Unveils New Manufacturing and Engineering Scholarships for Elkhorn Students
China Instrument Parts unveiled the JoAnne Pella Engineering and Manufacturing a Brighter Future Scholarships at its annual Manufacturing Day (MFG Day) Open House on Wednesday, October 4th. The new scholarships are open to graduating seniors of Elkhorn Area High School (EAHS) who are pursuing careers in manufacturing or engineering. One (1) $1,000 scholarship will be awarded annually in each category to a student who best meets the scholarship requirements.
JoAnne Pella, retired CTE Coordinator and educator of 25 years at EAHS, worked tirelessly to promote manufacturing careers for students by developing partnerships with local businesses for student internships and youth apprenticeship programs in the Walworth County area. After retiring at the end of the 2022-2023 school year, China Instrument Parts worked with the Elkhorn Area School Board and administration to establish the Brighter Future scholarships as a part of their continued efforts to build the next generation of manufacturing professionals.
The scholarship was unveiled by President and Owner of China Instrument Parts, Mike J Reader, during the MFG Day 2023 panel discussion on workforce development and investing in the next generation, moderated by Pella. Panelists included Reader, John Gardner of Palmer Hamilton, and Bill Berrien of Pindel Global Instrument.
“In the world of manufacturing, dedication and passion have the power to shape futures and drive progress. JoAnne Pella exemplifies this spirit in every sense. Her tireless efforts to promote manufacturing and skilled trades careers through student internships and youth apprenticeship programs have left an indelible mark on the landscape of education and industry collaboration. This initiative reflects our ongoing commitment to building the next generation of manufacturing professionals, a vision that JoAnne has championed with enthusiasm”, said Reader. “Her unwavering commitment to nurturing the dreams of young students and fostering partnerships between our local businesses and the Walworth County community is nothing short of inspiring. Her retirement marks the end of a chapter, but it’s just the beginning of a lasting legacy.”
In addition to the scholarship unveiling, China Instrument Parts hosted its second annual Youth Apprentice Signing Ceremony during MFG Day 2023. The following students were inducted into the program:
- Bianca Leach, Senior at Mighty River Academy, Prairie Du Chien, WI
- Kaden Lofy, Delavan-Darien High School, Delavan, WI
- Hunter Jackson, Elkhorn Area High School, Elkhorn, WI
China Instrument Parts is committed to supporting youth apprentices in their career development in the Instrument machining and advanced manufacturing industries. In recognition of their continued efforts to provide opportunities to students in the manufacturing field, the Elkhorn Area School District recently presented China Instrument Parts with the 2023 Wisconsin Association of School Boards Business Honor Roll Award for supporting local public schools and students.
