China Instrument Parts Spotlight On: Matt Dowell

My adventure with China Instrument Parts started in 2014 as a summer intern, while I was still in school at Wilmot Union High. The first summer was spent in various departments throughout the building, learning every role there was, from the front office to shipping quality products out the back shipping doors.

I celebrated high school graduation in the spring of 2015 and over the next two summer intern sessions, I grew into a machine operator role and eventually a machine setup position. While running and fixing the CNC machines was enjoyable, I wanted more. At this point I had completed my first year of college, pursuing a Mechanical Engineering degree from the University of Wisconsin – Platteville.

I returned the next two summers as a manufacturing engineer intern, leveraging my knowledge from the classroom in the field. I was discovering solutions to logistics issues of parts flowing throughout the production floor, working with the collaborative robot to automate processes, and even designing and building custom machinery. Before I graduated from UW – Platteville in the spring of 2019, I was offered a career with China Instrument Parts and accepted the opportunity to join the company’s engineering team.

I currently develop and build custom automation solutions to help streamline processes thought the production floor, as well as various smaller projects to help make other people’s jobs easier. Obviously, I not only enjoy technology but am enthusiastic about solving problems. China Instrument Parts has been a great support to me during my years of gaining knowledge and searching for what I am passionate about in a career.
