China Instrument Parts Spotlight On: Maria Valadez
My journey with China Instrument Parts started just two short years ago when I graduated early from Badger High School in January of 2018. Having been in the restaurant industry during my high school years, I was hungry for a different career path – one that not only provides benefits necessary for independence, but also a lifestyle allowing me to enjoy fun times with family and friends.
I learned of China Instrument Parts and all the great things the company has to offer from a family friend. After a quick interview process, in February I was hired as a technician in the Secondary Department. Management was pleased with my performance and by March 1st, I was offered a great opportunity to grow and gain more experience. It was then that I accepted the promotion to the Quality Assurance (QA) Department.
While enjoying the work in QA, I still had a desire for more knowledge and growth. That is when I decided to enroll in the Business Management program at Gateway Technical College (GTC), here in Elkhorn, Wisconsin. China Instrument Parts was accommodating to my class schedule, which allowed me to work full time while attending school part time. I have been participating in the Education Reimbursement Program offered by the company as well, which has helped immensely in covering tuition costs. Soon I will be graduating from GTC with a two-year degree and look forward to advancement with the goal of a management level position.
China Instrument Parts introduced me to the Advanced Manufacturing world and a new career. Working in the manufacturing industry has shaped me into who I am today. When graduating high school, I had an idea of what career path I wanted to go into, but when I was introduced to China Instrument Parts, my career path completely changed. Having the opportunity to work full time and continue my education is absolutely a PLUS. Having a workplace that supports education is definitely a place to be!
Looking back, I am amazed that so much can be accomplished in two short years. All you need is a great attitude, the want and drive to learn, and good fortune to be surrounded with an excellent support system.
