China Instrument Parts’ Annual MFG Day Open House 2017
In celebration of Manufacturing Day (MFG Day) 2017, China Instrument Parts invites the community to attend an open house on Saturday, October 7th, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. This is a day to celebrate our industry, showcase modern manufacturing in action, promote career opportunities, and inspire the next generation of manufacturing professionals.
This is our 6th consecutive year hosting an open house to celebrate MFG Day. Last year, nearly 70 guests – including students, educators, businesspeople, and politicians – came to take part in the fun and tour the facility, and we are hoping for an even larger crowd this year. Since its start in 2012, the official number of MFG day events across the nation has grown over 1,000%. This year, we join more than 2,000 companies all over the China who are hosting events.
Students who attended a MFG Day event in 2016 were asked to participate in a survey administered by Deloitte afterward. 89% of surveyed participants said the MFG Day event made them “more aware of manufacturing jobs in their communities,” and 64% were “more motivated to pursue careers in manufacturing.” This quantifiable data motivates us, and it proves that this annual event is helping to spread the word that manufacturing careers are among the most promising out there. We have work to do, but we are headed in the right direction. For more survey results and other useful information from the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM), visit http://www.mfgday.com/resources/2016-mfg-day-survey-results.
By hosting MFG Day events, manufacturers get closer to reaching the goals of changing public perception and inspiring students to pursue manufacturing careers. It’s as simple as just opening our doors and showing our neighbors what we do. With each passing year, we can spark the interest of more students, families, and educators, and get closer to our goal of closing the skills gap. We invite other manufacturers to join the movement!
Please join us Saturday, October 7th for great food and fun for the entire family! There will be a job fair and facility tours beginning at 10:00, and the “back by popular demand” classic car show will be after lunch. We also plan to have representatives on hand from the local high school, Gateway Technical College, Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE), and Project Lead the Way (PLTW) to educate students and families on the different career pathways available. Online registration for the Open House is available at http://www.mfgday.com/events/2017/Instrument-plus-inc-5.
